Q) How does the "Free Kids Entry with an Adult Entry" promotion actually work?
A) If you enter any of the 2015 Tauranga Half Marathon event options and you are a parent or guardian of a kid/s (defined as under 15 on race day) then 1 of your kids can run free in an event of the same or lesser value to the one you have entered.

Examples:
A) You are 50 years old and have entered the Half Marathon event. Then 1x kid (under 15 on race day) that you are the parent or guardian of, can enter either the Half Marathon, Walkways 14km, Walkways 7km or Matua Mile event for free.
B) You are 35 years old and have entered the 7km Walkways event. Then 1x kid (under 15 on race day) that you are the parent or guardian of, can enter the Walkways 7km or Matua Mile event for free. Should your kid wish to enter the Half Marathon or Walkways 14km event they would need to do so at the standard entry fee prices.

Important notes:
1) There are no transfers on the free kids entries i.e. if you have entered the Half Marathon and you've used the 1x free entry to enter a kid in the Matua Mile, you cannot at a later date transfer that free entry to have another one of your kids run the Half Marathon and then request to pay the full amount for the previously free Matua Mile entry.

2) The event loves helping families enjoy an exciting, affordable day out and have implemented a clear, simple and easy to manage Free Kids Entry with an Adult Entry promotion. We realise that the potential savings for each family will be widely different based on family make up and desired event options of the family (i.e. the promo will have no impact if 1x adult wants to run the Matua Mile and 4x kids want to run the Half Marathon) but we ask that you please respect the terms and conditions of this specific promotion.

How to enter your kid for free.
Once you have entered your desired event online please email luke@eventday.co.nz. Luke will then email you a promo code which can be used to enter your kid into any of the events with the same or lesser value to the one you entered.

Q) Is there a pre-race registration on Saturday 11 April, 2015?
A) Yes. Sport Bay of Plenty, 406 Devonport Road, Tauranga will be home to our pre-race registration on Saturday April 11, 2015.
Pre-race registration will run from 10.00am to 2.00pm and is compulsory for all registered participants.

Q) I can't make the pre-race registration on Saturday 11 April, 2015 - what do I do?
A) "Out of Towners" who are planning to arrive in Tauranga after 2.00pm Saturday (and didn't highlight that option to us on your online registration) need to notify luke@eventday.co.nz if they cannot make pre-race registration. These "Out of Towners" will be able to register inside the Otumoetai Sport and Recreation Centre at Fergusson Park (your start/finish venue) from 6.30am on race morning but will need to arrive onsite at least 30 minutes prior to their event's start time.

We realise not 100% of locals can make pre-race registration either due to other work or family commitments so if you definitely can't make the pre-race registration (or a friend/family member isn't able to come on your behalf) please notify luke@eventday.co.nz. You'll then be able to register with the "Out of Towners".
Q) What do I bring to pre-race registration?
A) Please bring along your e-ticket. If unable to print your e-ticket please don't stress - we'll just ask you some basic questions.

Q) Can a friend/family member register for me?
A) Yes. If unable to print your e-ticket please just ensure your friend/family member has all your correct details to make things speedy for the registration team.

Q) Can friends/family enter late at pre-race registration on Saturday?
A) Yes. Prices for entry on Saturday are Half Marathon $69, Walkways 14km - $45, Walkways 7km - $35, Matua Mile - $9.
It will be strictly cash only for all late entries. There is no ATM facilities at Sport Bay of Plenty but there will be nearby on Cameron Road.

Q) How do I find Sport Bay of Plenty for pre-race registration?
A) Sport Bay of Plenty is 406 Devonport Road, Tauranga, and is on the corner of Devonport Road and Thirteenth Ave.

If travelling from North (Auckland/Waihi) on SH2 head past Te Puna towards Tauranga. Follow signs for Mount Maunganui/Whakatane. Take the Waihi Road exit from SH 2. At the roundabout, take the 1st exit onto Koromiko St. Turn right onto McCord Ave. Turn right onto Birch Ave. Turn right onto Waihi Rd. Slight right to stay on Waihi Rd. Continue onto Eleventh Ave. Turn right onto Cameron Rd. Take the 1st left onto Twelfth Ave. Turn right onto Devonport Rd. Sport Bay of Plenty will be on your left.

Q) What is the Tauranga Half Marathons refund and transfer policy?
A) Here's the official wording…
Should the event be cancelled or stopped for any reason, or personal circumstances arise that prevent me from participating (or completing the event), I accept that my entry fee is non-refundable. Entries are only transferable at the discretion of the Event Organisers and will incur a transfer fee of $15.00.

Q) Why am I unable to receive a refund?
A) There are a multitude of reasons why you may no longer be able to participate (or wish to participate) in this event after entering:
- You've got minor tweaks / strains or major injuries
- You've got family / fitness / transport / work / health problems
- You've checked out the long range forecast which doesn't look favourable or
- You've simply realised you're going to be supremely hung-over Sunday morning from a Saturday night function you'd forgotten about when you entered.

We have to keep things simple and fair for all competitors that we communicate with, therefore we have a blanket non-refundable policy regardless of what has happened that makes you no longer able to participate in the event. While your entry fee is non-refundable we do give you the opportunity to transfer your entry to someone else for $15.00. This transfer could be to a friend / family member / running partner. The transfer needs to be into the same event option you entered (or one of lesser value). We will provide you with a promo code for your friend / family member to use when they enter online. When they enter the promo code they will be charged a $15.00 admin fee and then processed just the same as other entrants. How you work out the finances following that $15.00 transaction is entirely up to you!

Q) Can I transfer my entry to the 2016 event?
A) No. No entries can be transferred to 2016 event.

Q) I want to transfer up from the 7km to the 14km or from the 14km to the Half Marathon - how do I do this?
A) No problems here and good on you - just email through your request to us as soon as you can. Additional entry fees will be payable at pre-race registration to reflect the greater value of the new event (cash only).

Q) I want to transfer down from the Half to the 14km or from the 14km to the 7km - how do I do this?
A) Again no problems here - just email through your request to us as soon as you can. NOTE: To cover admin costs no refunds will be made to reflect the lesser value of the new event.

Q) What time should I arrive at Fergusson Park on race morning?
A) If you were unable to register on Saturday we recommend being inside the Otumoetai Sport and Recreation Centre at least 30 minutes prior to your event's start time. If you have registered on Saturday it's really up to you when you arrive - Fergusson Park Clubrooms will be open from 6.15am.
Final race information will be given by our Event MC 10 minutes prior to each of the race start times so please be in the start area (Fergusson Park carpark) ready to go 10 minutes prior to your race start time.

Q) I'm from out of town - do you have any recommended accommodation/event deals?
A) Check out all the accommodation providers in the area and activities to do in Tauranga at www.bayofplentynz.com.

Please consider carpooling to Tauranga if you're from out of town. We recommend liking us on Facebook to easily touch base with other participants or check out http://www.letscarpool.govt.nz/ to find a match for your transport requirements!

Q) How do the race starts work?
A) Self seeding please folks. Competitors who have selected the walk category will need to start behind the run field to ensure a smooth and fair race start for all. Every competitor will be given a gun time and a net time in the race results.
The male and female winner of each event will be decided on gun times (first across the line).
All other results including category winners will be decided on net times.

Q) How is the event timed?
A) All transponder timing - thanks to Timing Sports. Transponders to be picked up at pre-race registration.

Q) What are the age categories for the event?
A) Competitors will fall into one of ten categories for each event - yes that's a lot but it means more competitors will have bragging rights! All ages taken as at race day (April 12, 2015).
Categories are: 0-14, 14-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70-99. If you are 100 and entering consider entry on the house!

Q) Do I enter as a runner or walker?
A) If you are thinking of jogging or running AT ANY POINT in the event you do need to be entered in the run category. The walking category is only for those who have committed to walk the event from start to finish. Please ensure you are entered in the right category at pre-race registration.

Q) Will the walk event be policed?
A) No. We will do our best to ensure all participants enter the correct category (run or walk) at pre-race registration but that is where our policing stops. No event staff will be policing that each walk category participant will be strictly walking across the entire event course on the day as this is not an official sanctioned walk event. At the post event prizegiving we will announce the provisional winners of the walk category based on the provisional results that we have at the time. Post event, if you believe a particular participant needs to be altered from the walk to the run category please email through all details luke@eventday.co.nz and we will follow up with that participant. If that participant agrees that they should be switched, we will switch - if they disagree or communication cannot be made with that participant they will remain in the walk results.

Q) What time is the prizegiving?
A) 11.00am on Fergusson Park outside the Clubrooms (just after the course cut-off time for all events).
This means you're all be home by lunch (well the locals anyway!)

Q) Will there be any merit prizes awarded at prizegiving?
A) Based on the provisional results available at the time prizegiving commences, the male and female winner of each of the 7 event options (Half Marathon Run, Half Marathon Walk, 14km Run, 14km Walk, 7km Run, 7km Walk, Matua Mile Run/Walk will be awarded a merit prize at prizegiving. Second and third place will be recognised at prizegiving but only the winners will receive merit prizes.

Q) When/where can I view results?
A) Provisional results will be made available by 5.00pm on race day so participants can see where they finished overall and in their event categories. Results will then be finalised by the end of the next week (Friday 17 April, 2015)

Q) There are errors with the results - who do I advise?
A) Please email through as much info as you possibly can to luke@eventday.co.nz. Your query will then be forwarded onto the event timing team to look at and in 95% of cases we will have a resolution for you within 24 hours.

Q) Will any spot prizes be given out at prizegiving?
A) We will put aside the top spot prizes to be drawn at the 11.00am event prizegiving. You have to be there to win!

Q) Any certificates for finishers?
A) All finishers will be able to download an official event certificate post event - with event distance and official event time recorded on the certificate. Certificates will be available for download once provisional results become final on Friday 17 April.
