FAQ – Results

Q) How do the race starts work?
A) Self seeding please folks. Competitors who have selected the walk category will need to start behind the run field to ensure a smooth and fair race start for all. Every competitor will be given a gun time and a net time in the race results.
The male and female winner of each event will be decided on gun times (first across the line).
All other results including category winners will be decided on net times.

Q) How is the event timed?
A) All transponder timing – thanks to Timing Sports. Transponders to be picked up at pre-race registration.

Q) What are the age categories for the event?
A) Competitors will fall into one of ten categories for each event – yes that’s a lot but it means more competitors will have bragging rights! All ages taken as at race day (April 9, 2017).
Categories are: 0-14, 14-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69 and 70-99.

Q) Do I enter as a runner or walker?
A) If you are thinking of jogging or running AT ANY POINT in the event you do need to be entered in the run category. The walking category is only for those who have committed to walk the event from start to finish. Please ensure you are entered in the right category at pre-race registration.

Q) Will the walk event be policed?
A) No. We will do our best to ensure all participants enter the correct category (run or walk) at pre-race registration but that is where our policing stops. No event staff will be policing that each walk category participant will be strictly walking across the entire event course on the day as this is not an official sanctioned walk event. At the post event prizegiving we will announce the provisional winners of the walk category based on the provisional results that we have at the time. Post event, if you believe a particular participant needs to be altered from the walk to the run category please email through all details luke@eventday.co.nz and we will follow up with that participant. If that participant agrees that they should be switched, we will switch – if they disagree or communication cannot be made with that participant they will remain in the walk results.

Q) What time is the prizegiving?
A) 11.00am on Fergusson Park outside the Clubrooms (just after the course cut-off time for all events).

Q) When/where can I view results?
A) Provisional results will be made available by 5.00pm on race day so participants can see where they finished overall and in their event categories. Results will then be finalised by the end of the next week (Friday 14 April, 2017)

Q) There are errors with the results – who do I advise?
A) Please email through as much info as you possibly can to luke@eventday.co.nz. Your query will then be forwarded onto the event timing team to look at and in 95% of cases we will have a resolution for you within 24 hours.

Q) Will any spot prizes be given out at prizegiving?
A) We will put aside the top spot prizes to be drawn at the 11.00am event prizegiving. You have to be there to win!

Q) Any certificates for finishers?
A) All finishers will be able to download an official event certificate post event – with event distance and official event time recorded on the certificate. Certificates will be available for download once provisional results become final on Friday 14 April, 2017.
